Key Resources

Initial Resources for Seekers/Investigators Exploring Community of Christ

You will know that Community of Christ had a brief shared history with the Latter-Day Seeker community between 1830 to 1844.  From that time the two churches have been separate communities travelling their own, unique faith journey.

Today, Community of Christ welcomes all people, regardless of gender, sexuality, colour, race or creed.  Here we celebrate the worth of all people and embrace the rich diversity of life which creates communities of love, hope, joy and peace. A community that has ordained women to the priesthood for over 30 years, has full equality for LGBT members and friends and celebrates marriage for those that love God and each other regardless of their sexuality. You are invited to explore the material below produced by Community of Christ specifically for seekers/investigators.

Rise Magazine

Written by

Our RISE magazine has a new editor

RISE shares peoples stories and testimonies of how God is working in their lives and in the lives of people around them.  There are snippets of good news, fun and laughter and often a challenge. Leanne Grooms is working on her first edition but is spending the summer on World Service Corps (www.cofchrist.org/world-service-corps) a ministry without boundaries of Community of Christ. Leanne was chosen to spend her summer in South Korea, a country she had fallen in love with before she even visited.  We wish her all the best and look forward to her first magazine on her return.

Check back after the Summer!

Experience Congregations in Mission

Written by

We are poised to become congregations that are the true and living expressions of Jesus Christ, woven together by the Spirit, and sent into the world as evangelistic witnesses, compassionate ministers, and justice and peacemakers.

We fulfil God’s ultimate vision as we…

  • Nurture Congregations of Christ’s Love and Peace
  • Experience God’s Presence through Worship
  • Become a People of Peace, Reconciliation and Healing of the Spirit

The Experience Congregations in Mission team focus is on four areas of support at a Congregational level: Congregational Support for Pastors & Leadership Teams, Worship & Spiritual Practices, Children’s Ministry and Youth Ministry. Sally Norton is the Congregational Support Minister for the British Isles and works with pastors and leadership teams on a regular basis offering support and ministry around the Mission Centre. Her role also includes working with the Congregation Advocates and developing worship and spiritual practices for congregations, groups and Mission Centre activities.

In the Experience Congregations in Mission team, Alison Baines is our lead minister for Children's Ministry in congregations and Karen Norton is our lead minister for Youth Ministry in congregations. Alison and Karen will be working with children and youth ministers to provide support and develop new expressions of ministry. Currently, the children and youth ministries available at a congregational level include:

  • Children & Youth Groups
  • Sunday School
  • Messy Church
  • Holiday Clubs
  • Family Worships

Develop Disciples to Serve

Written by

We are poised to equip men, women, and children to be true and living expressions of the life, ministry, and continuing presence of Christ in the world.

We fulfill God’s ultimate vision as we…

  • Help All Ages Deepen Their Discipleship
  • Empower Priesthood for Mission
  • Grow Pastors and Leaders for Mission
  • Train and Send Ministers for Mission throughout the World

The team are making plans for a Priesthood Weekend and a Young Adult Weekend both being held in November at Dunfield House www.dunfieldhouse.org.uk.  Resources to help with personal development can be found under the resources drop-down menu, specifically under the Pastors & Leaders, Podcasts and LDS Key Resources pages. Advocacy to support pastors is also being explored and developed by this team and the Experience Congregations in Mission team.
