The Little Blue Church

Welcome from Janette Shardlow, Pastor of Leicester Congregation

A warm welcome is extended to all, from the Leicester Community of Christ congregation or 'The Little Blue Church' as we are known locally! We would love you to come and join us for any of our worships or other activities.

You can find us at

330 Abbey Lane, Leicester, LE4 2AB. We meet for worship on Sundays at 11.00am.

How can I get in touch?

Please contact the pastor Janette Shardlow for more information on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.   Check out our Facebook page by searching 'Leicester Community of Christ' and our Instagram page - youthleicester

Is your church accessible?

We have a ramp up to the front entrance and wheelchair accessible toilets.

What do I do when I arrive?

Enter the church through the main entrance off Abbey Lane. You will be greeted by someone who will see you come in and will share what is happening in worship that day. They will also answer any questions you may have and give you a warm welcome to our activities.

What should I wear?

We tend to dress casually on a Sunday, however, you may find people dressed in their Sunday best or others in jeans and t-shirt. Wear whatever makes you feel most comfortable, we are just glad you want to come!

Are there any activities for my children/family at your church?

Yes, we have Messy Church, a Christ-based activity morning for families, and regular family services on Sunday.  Children are, however, welcome at any of our worships.  All of our worships start at 11.00am but please contact us as we sometimes change the worship for special occasions. We run our youth groups during term time on Monday evenings for school years 2-13. Please contact us for details as different age groups meet on different weeks.

What are your worships like?

Our worships take a variety of forms. They are planned and led by different people and therefore, no two services will ever be exactly the same.  We have Communion (Lord's Supper) services regularly, usually on the first Sunday of the month.  Many of our worships will include some form of interactive or practical activity to involve everyone who wants to join in.  All will provide an opportunity for you to share in music, scripture and challenging words of hope, faith and the love of Jesus Christ.

Our programme - please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  for our programme whilst we sort out a glitch in our system - thank you

What other activities can I join in at your church?

In addition to our Sunday worship and Messy Church we also have the following regular midweek activities:

  • Youth groups for school years 2 - 13 on Monday evenings
  • Womens group monthly on Tuesday evenings
  • Coffee Morning  every Wednesday morning from 10.30am - 12 noon

Throughout the year there are also opportunities to join in social and community activities such as quiz and games nights, The Big Lunch, Summer Fayre and more!

We encounter God through the sacraments of the church which touch lives at important times and places. We offer the sacraments of marriage for all people, ordination, the blessing of children, laying on of hands for the sick, evangelist blessing, baptism, confirmation, the Lords Supper (open communion) and funeral services. To engage with our wider church community please check out our events page on this website for dates for cluster worships and planned activities. These include youth camps, family camps, congregation and work weekends etc, along with the opportunity to study, learn and take part in the decision making of our church in the British Isles.
